Communicating With Adult Sons About Prostate Cancer

Camella Rising is the wife of one of our patients, Matt Rising (Commander, US Navy, retired). She is a PhD candidate in health/risk communication at George Mason University. She is studying what, why and how fathers and their adult sons talk (or don’t talk) about prostate cancer and the family risk of prostate cancer when at least one of them has been diagnosed

To learn more about Camella and the study, please go to her website: www.camellarising.wordpress.com.

If you would like to begin the questionnaire, just click here: https://gmuchss.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6VDBnWYHBiNBzHT. After completing the questionnaire, you have the chance to enter a raffle to win one of two $50 Amazon gift cards!

There is also the option of participating in a second part of the study which involves providing a written description of a memorable time communicating about prostate cancer/family risk. Additional incentives are provided to thank you for your time!

For more information, please contact Camella directly at crising@gmu.edu.

Want To Be A “Battle Buddy”?

A prostate cancer “battle buddy” is a man who has completed treatment(s) for prostate cancer or chosen active surveillance and wants to offer support and encouragement to another man who is about to embark on that same path.

If you would like to be on my battle buddy list, please let me know. Or, if you are seeking a battle buddy, please let me know! We are here for you!
