Educational Resource
Androgen Deprivation Therapy - Book

Strongly recommend the book  "Androgen Deprivation Therapy. An Essential Guide for Prostate Cancer Patients and Their Loved Ones” by Richard Wassersug, PhD,  Lauren  Walker, PhD, and John Robinson, PhD.

This is a short, easy-to-read, yet comprehensive book that covers with sensitivity and practicality everything about hormone therapy – what it is and how it works, side effects, diet, exercise, psychological issues, and sexual relations. This one gets 5 stars!

Community Outreach Opportunities

This will be the 4th year in which we man (or woman!) a table at the Retiree Appreciation Day sponsored by the military installations in our area. Our purpose is to provide information about prostate cancer and advocate for prostate cancer awareness. We encourage open and friendly conversations with men and their families dealing with prostate cancer (or fearing the prospect of prostate cancer) providing information, support and camaraderie.

Would you like to “give back” in some way? This is it! A great opportunity to get the word out about prostate cancer, CPDR, Us TOO support groups and other education and support resources.

If you would like to donate an hour or two (or more!) of your time to help man a table at Fort Myer, Fort Belvoir, Quantico, Fort Meade, or Joint Base Andrews, please let me or Gene Slebrch know. We will happily sign you up! J (Gene’s email is gslebrch@yahoo.com). Gene is the “go to” coordinator for these events. (Thank you, Gene!)

Dates and times:

1. Quantico- 17 Sep (time TBD)
2. Fort Belvoir- 23 Sep  0800-1400
3. Fort Myer – 7 Oct 0800-1600
