Mr. Jack Chang, Dr. Yongmei Chen, Ms. Michelle Zhao and Dr. Jennifer Cullen.
The goals of this meeting were to emphasize the structural changes of
the CPDR Database and the approval process for future studies, to resurrect
the Idea Bank which will allow for multiple collaborations on new research
projects by the principal investigators and to discuss ways of encouraging
extramural collaborations with CPDR.
Dr. Jennifer Cullen,
CPDR Epidemiologist and organizer of the meeting, reports good progress
as a result of this year’s conference. “The discussion focused
on the creation of two committees to improve data quality, modify data
collection forms and generation of a formal process for the Idea Bank.”
The Idea Bank is a forum for the principal investigators’ new research
initiatives, to decide on novel concepts and to generate collaboration
on these ideas among researchers. “We were excited about this year’s
meeting and are ready to accomplish the tasks identified. We hope to foster
new research directions and increase the uniqueness of the CPDR Clinical
database” she concluded.
It was proposed that the Principal Investigators will meet again at the
East Jefferson site on February 4-5, 2005 to finalize the forms review,
update the Quality Assurance/Quality Control and discuss the formulation
of the Idea Bank for new research initiatives.
The CPDR mission is fulfilled primarily through its three principal programs – the Clinical Research Center, the Basic Science Research Program and the National Multicenter Prostate Cancer Database– and through a robust education and training program that operates out of its Headquarters location, the Clinical Research Center, and the original laboratories at USUHS. CPDR is also committed to patient outreach, primarily through its affiliation with the WRAMC US TOO! organization and through a heavy schedule of health fairs in which it participates.
